Michael J Walsh is an experienced Creative Director/Designer, currently serving as CD at Emory University, Goizueta Business School. Mr. Walsh been a design consultant for Mindstate Lab, Columbia Entrepreneurship Innovation and Design at Columbia University in New York City as well as running his own design business. He is the founding Creative Director & Designer of DEAR DAVE, an online and print magazine that won the 2018 Lucie Award for Best Photography Magazine and a 2020 Webby award. Walsh has been an instructor in the Graphic Design/Interactive Design BFA program at the School of Visual Arts, NYC, where he was also the Director of Design & Digital Media for the College. Other creative roles include: NYCEDC; Abrams Publishing; Walt Disney Company; Time Inc; TBS Productions and The Washington Post Sunday Magazine. Walsh develops brand identity systems and brand content development for several institutions and startup organizations in the eco economy, education, sports marketing, photography, fine art, technology, life sciences, architecture, and industrial design industries. Walsh has been asked to speak and manage workshop presentations at numerous design conferences and universities around the US and has also spoken at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia and University College of London, Slade School of Fine Art.

 

Mr. Walsh has won over 300 design/art direction awards, from: American Institute of Graphic Arts; American Association of Museums; Art Directors Club; Society of Publication Designers; Print; Communication Arts; Creativity; Graphis; Art Direction; British Art Direction and Design Annual; Creative Review UK; I.D. Annual Design Review; Red Dot International Design Awards; One Show Design; University College Designers Association; Summit International Creative awards; New York Book Show, the Webby Awards.
