Digital Tools
Creating digital tools for better internal analysis, external portfolios, digital asset management systems, communication, job requests, logo downloads, ordering stationery, training videos & more...
Here are a few projects that we conceived and accomplished with the expertise of Eric Corriel (as well as Carey Estes and Declan Van Welie).
1). Student, Alumni and Faculty Portfolio website—In 2011, SVA became the first college to partner with Behance to create a custom online platform for student, alumni and faculty work. Since then, dozens of other colleges have followed suit.
2). Advertising and Graphic Design Portfolio app- We developed an app so that hiring companies could explore the portfolios of the graduating class of the School of Visual Arts Advertising and Design departments. This has become the "go-to" place to find the most talented young designers for your company, start-up or project.
3). Executive Dashboard—A custom designed and developed portal that gives executives the comparatives from Google Analytics that they want to see quickly. Saves time scouring GA pages and basically eliminated a meeting every two weeks where our team had to walk leadership through each number set.
4). SVA TODAY—A custom designed daily email report. The goal of this tool was to eliminate the excessive nature of multiple emails form the communications department. This solution is sent once daily and has been immensely succesfull and popular. People actually look forward to something that is repackaged and edited in a significantly improved package.
5). User-friendly website for the needs for our clients.
Request a job—Print, eblast, a new website, exhibition graphics, any type of communication or marketing need is ordered and organized here within our Podio system.
Custom made CMS training video—to aid new users in the complexities and topics associated with a new Content Management System.
Powers of 10
Worked with Designer Agnieszka Gasparska in 2004 to develop an intricate diagram depicting all of the size scales of the visible universe, published as a 3 foot custom fold-out inside Ivan Amato’s “Supervision: A New View of Nature” (Harry N. Abrams).
1). Student, Alumni and Faculty Portfolio website
We made the decision, and convinced our counterparts to be the first College in the world to utilize Behance as a portfolio site for students. We worked with Behance founders (in their pre-Adobe days: Scott Belsky and Alex Krug) to customize their portfolio site to include a ratings system and also to add SVA alumni and faculty sections. This software, bought by Adobe Inc. in 2012 is the largest Visual Arts website system in the world.
Executive Dashboard—A breakdown of requested info
Worked with my team on our own in-house enterprise solutions e.g.: an Executive Dashboard, using Google Analytics, showing only the comparatives that Executives wanted to review quickly.
Example of overall Google analytics stats for sva.edu.

SVA NYC Daily e-mail roundup
We made this a MOBILE first communication tool for the School of Visual Arts. I set about creating this soultion because Communications staff complained that nobody read their emails…
I suggested that we strategically change the multiple emails per day down to ONE important email delivered at 6am each day. This changed the way that my colleagues worked, which created some resistance at first. But this solution was approved by leadership. Readership of emails went from 3% to 93% readership in the first week and has remained steady ever since.
Tablet view (clean & simple single column structure)
We determined to keep the width of the mobile version for tablet and desktop. To avoid odd breaks in short entries. making the viewing experience consistent rather than responsive. BUT we made it a MOBILE first communication tool.
Designed the interface for logo downloads for in-house use

UEFA Data Project
I built this design model (with a good deal of help from a smarter person on my staff) in summer of 2014 as the impetus for a student project assignment later that fall for my class entitled “ Interactive Content Creation & Design”.
I can write code, but it is not my strongest area. That is partly why this is so simple looking… Painful, but proud in a weird nerdy way…

Data Visualization of population categories in NYC
These were designed as samples for an interactive component on a revised website for NYCEDC, but I left before it was enacted further.
